About MeWide round porcelain bowl standing on a short cylindrical foot.

It is glazed all over in pale greenish-blue celadon glaze, pooling to a deeper, almost turquoise, blue in the centre and fading to white at the rim. It is decorated around the outside with a thin trail of meandering lightly coloured tenmoku.

Chris Keenan frequently works with a combination of celadon and tenmoku glazes, with tenmoku applied to enhance the shape or, as in this example, to create a subtle pattern.

Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China. It is frequently found in shades of pale green, however colours can range from pale pearl blue to dark olive green depending on the quantity of iron oxide added to the glaze before it is fired.

Tenmoku glaze is generally treacle-brown or lustrous black in colour.
