About MeThis stoneware globular teapot with short spout s glazed in an oatmeal white slip (liquid clay) with a salt-glazed exterior which gives a mottled cream and light brown appearance. It is decorated under glaze with two bands of roulette impressed chevrons which enclose a meandering band of abstract incised loops.
Ray Finch was one of the UK's leading makers of tableware at the Winchcombe Pottery, near Cheltenham, where he led a team of talented potters. He embedded his own work within the standard domestic ware made at the workshop and was known for his wheel-thrown teapots. Finch's work is marked with his personal modified mark of WP (Winchcombe Pottery) followed by a small dot.
