About MeThe new notes were printed on both sides in blue and yellow by Bradbury, Wilkinson and Company. Their security features included complex machine-engraved patterns, printing on both sides in colour, watermarks and coloured fibres around the border. The only pictorial detail was a small vignette of Marischal College, Aberdeen taken from an original by the Aberdeen-born artist, Sir George Reid.

Printing on the reverse side of banknotes had been used only very occasionally by the Aberdeen-based banks but all the new notes introduced from 1909 by the North of Scotland and Town and County Bank had printing on both sides as standard practice.

The reverse design of this series is much simpler than that on the obverse and consists mainly of the bank's coat of arms surrounded by details of the Acts of Incorporation of the two constituent companies. An elongated vertical panel at the right-hand side contains the name of the bank; outside this appears the name of the printer and engraver of this series, Bradbury, Wilkinson and Company of London.

Shortly after the merging of the North of Scotland and Aberdeen Town and County Banks, a completely new series of notes was designed. These large-scale banknotes included a range of security features which made them more up-to-date than anything previously issued by the Aberdeen banks.
