About MeThis ivory wedding dress was first worn by a bride to her wedding in America in the 1870s. The brides granddaughter shared her taste in bridalwear, opting to wear this dress on her wedding day in the 1930s.The dress follows women's fashion of the time which placed emphasis on the back of the skirt, with a long train and fabric draped up in to a bustle with an abundance of flounces, ruching and a bow. The elongated and tight bodice with lower waist is another common feature seen in the 1870s.
