About MeThis two-piece dress with petticoat was worn by Alice Annand Murray, from Longside near Peterhead, on her marriage to Donald Mackenzie from Lewis in 1910.As was often the tradition, the dress was then passed down to their daughter Alice Murray Mackenzie Swaim who wore it at her wedding in Pittsburgh, in the United States, in 1932.
The dress was made and sold by Aberdeen's Esslemont & Macintosh department store, which opened up on Broad Street in 1873, moved location to Union Street in the 1920's and shut down permanently in 2005.
