About MeThe bride and groom were graduates of the University of Aberdeen. They were married in King's College Chapel in the 1930s. The venue is available for traditional wedding ceremonies to graduates, students and staff of the University.

The main influence for the shape of the 1930s wedding dress was Hollywood. During the Great Depression, Hollywood films offered escapism and glamour, and wedding dresses were often modelled on the evening gowns worn by film stars. Brides in the 1930s favoured long, glamourous and romantic dresses that substituted the suit or short day-dress worn during the First World War and the Depression. This dress has all the popular features of a 1930s wedding gown: it has a very long train, it is simple yet elegant, and it is made of highly glamorous grosgrain moire silk. Orange blossom headdresses were popular bridalwear from the 1820s up until the 1940s.
