About MeThis calf-length, black and purple cocktail-style dress was worn by a young bride on the 26th October 1952. It resembled the style of dress worn by Elizabeth Taylor at her wedding to Michael Wilding that same year. This outfit was worn with grey accessories.
The 1950s and 60s were decades of growth and expansion. Consumer society was born, and designers produced a bewildering amount of fashion variations to suit every taste and budget. The short evening dress became very popular. This in turn influenced wedding fashions, with dresses becoming shorter and very varied in style.
