About MeWide shallow porcelain bowl with pale green glaze and incised foliate motif.Like his father, Bernard Leach, David has been influenced by Oriental techniques in ceramic production, but combines them with traditional western methods.
Leach’s early work was in stoneware. He produced slipware in Devon until 1961 then later began to also use porcelain. This piece shows his mastery with the decorative technique of sgraffito which he has employed to create a simple motif under the celadon glaze.
More About Me
David Leach's pots are fresh and clear - some of his finest pieces were porcelain tea sets with delicate fluted decoration and a pale blue celadon glaze.
