About MeBorn 1913, Marianne de Trey studied textile design at the Royal College of Art. She married Sam Haile in 1938 and moved to the USA where he taught her to pot. They returned to England in 1944, and in 1947 they bought Shinners Bridge Pottery in Devon where de Trey continued to pot after Haile's death. She retired in 1985. This dish reflects the influence of Chinese incised porcelains.



More About Me
Sometimes the simplest of forms can be the most beautiful. The pale green-white glaze, known as celadon, was first created in China during the Han dynasty. It gives the dish the pure look of nature.
