About MeThis very large terracotta dish has been decorated with an oxidised Tenmoko glaze, which ranges in colour from black to reddish-brown.

The name tenmoku comes from Tien-mu-Shan meaning Mountain of the Eye of Heaven, a mountain in Chechiang province China. It was from a monastery on this mountain that Dogen, a Japanese Zen priest, was said to have brought the first tenmoku bowl to Japan in 1228.
