About MeThis stoneware pressed dish is glazed in a light blue-green streaked glaze, possibly Dalemain wood ash.
Edward Hughes’ glazes were often based on locally sourced wood ash. When fired at a high temperature in a reduction kiln the glazes achieved rich mottled colours, reflecting the Cumbrian landscape where he lived and worked.
