About MeStoneware shallow round casserole, or vegetable dish, with cover. The dish tapers gently to the foot and has a thick rolled rim with a recessed interior lip on which the cover sits. Two narrow lug handles. The cover is slightly domed with a circular everted knob with steam hole.
Both pieces are glazed in a greenish-white ash glaze under an almost black rust glaze (tenmoku), giving a mottled appearance. Both pieces are also decorated with a combed waved band within two parallel lines of banding.
A range of casseroles and vegetable dishes of differing sizes and styles were made at Winchcombe Pottery.
