About MeLetter by Graham Smith to Mr. Paton, titled ''Mr. McBey and P. & D. Colnaghi, Ltd.'', dated 8th May, 1941. The letter begins as follows.

''Two of Colnaghi's Directors gave me a call last Friday and I think that you will like to have a brief report of what they came to tell me.
It seems that on the 3rd ultimo Mr. Mayer himself wrote direct to Mr. McBey dealing fully with the last letter to Mr. Wright. dated the 27th January last. It was considered better for Mr. Mayer to write personally although he is no longer a director of the Company because Mr. McBey had apparently always placed the utmost faith in his judgment and capacity. In his letter Mr. Mayer fully explained what had led to the present position, and went on to say that Conaghi's had about £10,000 worth of Mr. McBey's Etchings in their general stock, and another £1,000 worth which they held jointly with other dealers. In the end Mr. Mayer suggested that Colnaghi's should give to Mr. McBey Etchings to the value of £8312.1.4 (that figure is based upon cost price to them) in cancellation of the debt and accrued interest, and he forwarded a list of the Etchings in question.''
