About MeLetter from Winifred to James McBey, dated 23 July 1919, and sent to McBey c/o Mrs. Hargreaves, Rosemount, Poole Hill, Bournemouth. Winifred refers to McBey as "my dear Mae" and explains that her sisters met her on arrival, and they think she looks tired.

Winifred then talks about how she is horribly lonely without James, but doesn't think he will believe her. She says she has moved into the same room as before and the house is absolutely full, with more people moving into the top flat tomorrow.

Winifred then tells McBey that she couldn't make out what he said just as the train was leaving, but that she had lots to say to him. Explaining, "I wish you were here, you could easily get a room of course if you do want to come, and the change would do you good." She then talks about her family's concerns about her living in London alone, and says that McBey has been good to her.

A note at the end of the letter reads, "P.S. I haven't got the gold chain here."

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
