About MeCarte de visite of a man sitting with two boys standing either side of him. The man is wearing a dark jacket, matching waistcoat and trousers and there is a pocket watch chain visible. His hair is styled neatly and he has a bushy beard. He is holding a book in both hands and there is a cap folded on his left leg which appears to be a military beret. The boy standing to the man's left has his right hand resting on the cap. The boy is wearing a jacket, a neck tie and matching trousers and his hair is styled neatly. The boy on the right is wearing clothes to match the other boy and his hair is parted down his left side. He is also holding another beret in his right hand. In the background there is a large drape and the side of a table is visible on the right hand side. On the reverse side the photographer's details appear in full.
