Matching Type 1 sole (a) and Type A upper of left ankle boot (b)
(a) Forepart of left sole, very broad with rounded toe. Edge-flesh stitching channel stitch length 5mm. Tunnel stitch holes on grain side of clump sole. Worn, partially delaminated and torn across tread.
(b) Large fragment of upper comprising vamp with vamp wing, vamp throat and quarter with part of leg. Vamp wing and quarter appear to meet. No thong holes. Simple wrap-around boot of one-piece design now missing second leg flap. Lasting margin with grain-flesh stitching channel stitch length 6mm. Edge-flesh stitching channel stitch length 4mm on vamp wing, vamp throat, quarter and on vertical and bottom edges of leg flap. Top edge of quarter/ leg flap over sewn. Tunnel stitch indicate position of semi-circular heel-stiffener. Worn with tear at vamp throat and at quarter with several small holes. Small crack near front of vamp.Site number: E34
