About MeThis cream silk wedding dress was worn to a wedding at Northfield Parish Church, Aberdeen in 1969.
The wedding outfit was purchased at Nicoll, a shop once located at the thriving west end of Union Street. The silk for the dress was ordered from Milan and dyed to suit the bride's requirements; she was a redhead and did not wish to wear a pure white dress as she felt this would be unflattering.
It is cut in a princess line with a train, full-length flared sleeves, and the cuff and hemline are trimmed with polyester guipure lace flowers. The branded box and the cream wedding veil are also held by Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum collections.
