About MeThe cream satin wedding dress train is pleated and shaped to attach to the waist; the train broadens from its top into a square at the bottom. The right side of the train is edged with gathered cream Maltese lace and fine cream gathered gauze. The bottom left of the train features a large satin and gauze bow decorated with orange blossom wax flowers on a green wire. The top of the train has hooks, corded braid and two tassels on either side, decorated with metallic thread. This part serves to attach the train to the dress. The location of the wedding dress that went with the train remains unknown.

The donor, Peggy Walker, spent her early childhood in the Aberdeenshire countryside until her family moved into central Aberdeen. She taught dressmaking and costume design at the Northern College of Education in Aberdeen. She also made costumes for student shows in her role as wardrobe mistress in the drama department. She was an expert on historical costume and amassed a large collection that was donated to Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums as the Peggy Walker Gift.
