In Studio Interior, Peploe applies pale tones of blue, brown, grey and white with loose, painterly brushstrokes. He uses colour as Cézanne did in his works - to create space and suggest the fall of light at the same time. Here, the light creates pools of white on the floor and back wall.
More About Me
In his later career, having by then met with some success, Peploe became more experimental in his paintings, ignoring pure colours for more muted ones.
