About MeCorrespondence from James McBey to Marguerite McBey, dated 28 July 1947, and comprising of two sheets, with text on both sides of each sheet.

McBey writes from Angus, describing his overnight journey from London King's Cross, and complaining about the several passengers standing up and crowding the corridor of the train. He was met by an acquaintance, Lisbeth, and her father, and Herbert (Paton), at Montrose. He promises a woman called Winnie that Marguerite will send "5lbs rice, 5lbs sugar, 5lbs raisins, 5lbs currants", as well as a "few packets of noodle soup" - he asks if Marguerite can do this.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
