About MeSmall footed porcelain bowl glazed all over in a pale greenish-blue celadon glaze fading to almost white around the rim. The bowl is edged with a band of a darker olive green celadon around the outside rim, with a pattern of sgraffito vertical lines cut through the glaze before firing.
Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China and spread to other parts of East Asia. Iron oxide is added to create shades of pale green and blue and with the addition of a greater amount of iron oxide, in colours as dark as olive green and black.
