About MeThis earthenware hand-modelled figure of a seated hound, possibly a lurcher, is typical of Geoffrey Fuller's humorous style. Fuller loved dogs, particulalry whippets and hounds and sculpted them with great understanding. Here the animal sits attentively with its tail curled around its back legs as though waiting patiently for a call to get up. Fuller was influenced by traditional slipware and folk traditions, echoed in the soft colour palette of the hound's body.
Geoffrey Fuller’s ceramic workshop was attached to an 18th-century Derbyshire pub, the Three Stags’ Heads, which he ran for about 35 years alongside his pottery.
