About MeThis black silk skirt was worn in 1905 by Mary Alexander, on her wedding day to James Wood, who was a fish merchant from Findon. The ruched, gathered, flounced and frilly skirt is ankle length and bell shaped with a small train at the back. Although black could seem an unusual choice of colour for a wedding, it was popular at the turn of the 20th century
