Reconstructed jug from 53-59 Gallowgate (Excavation 1987). Local late medieval transitional (LMT) fabric. 2.6 litres capacity. Light reddish-brown fabric; buff-brown surfaces; ext covered with a patchy medium green lead glaze. Thumbed base; simple pulled spout; applied decoration of scales on a gently rilled profile. Black vertical sooting marks on either side of the spout show where the vessel has been laid in a bed of charcoal.
