About MeThis small jug is made from Fremington clay, a local clay from which Clive Bowen makes most of his work.

It is glazed all over in a dark brown slip (liquid clay) with yellow ochre and brown slips over the handle, rim and outer body. The jug is decorated with free flowing brown slip and green slip abstract patterns around the body and dark brown waved bands around the foot.

Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for the production of domestic earthenwares at his North Devon pottery. He makes a wide selection of useful pieces for the preparation, cooking and serving of food ranging from giant store jars to everyday pots and dishes.
