About MeCarte de visite of Jane Pitcairn standing next to a chair with both arms resting on the back. Her hair is neatly styled in a middle parting. Jane is wearing a dress with a buttoned bodice with a white collar and long leg of mutton sleeves with a small puff, and a full skirt. There are contrast stripes at the hem of the skirt and going down the lenth fo the sleeves. She is wearing earrings and a choker. A hanging curtain can be seen to her right and on her left is a small table with a plant inside a decorative vase. On the reverse the photographer's details appear in full along with an inscription, hand-written in pencil: 'Jane Pitcairn, 1863.'
