About MeCarte de visite of Dr. Pirie standing next to a table, holding a book in his right hand. He is dressed in a long dark jacket, trousers and waistcoat with a white shirt and black necktie. There is a pocket watch chain visible inside his waistcoat. He has mutton chops. On the right hand side there is the edge of chair and a draped curtain can be seen on the left.
On the reverse Dr Pirie is written in pencil and the photographer's details appear in full.
