About MeCarte de visite of a man standing with his legs crossed next to a small side table. In his right hand he is holding a book which is balanced on the table and his left is propped up against his hip. His hair is styled neatly and he has a large beard. He is wearing a suit with a long jacket, waistcoat, white shirt, polished shoes and black necktie. The studio backdrop appears to be decorated as a living room or study with a window. On the reverse the photographer's details appear in full.
