About MeThis teapot is typical of the early style of Scottish teapots with a straight spout and barrel shaped body elongated to the foot. It seems likely that this teapot was a gift, possibly to commemorate a marriage. It is engraved on one side with the armorial bearing of John Urquhart, the 20th laird of Meldrum, Aberdeenshire and on the opposite side, the initials JC, those of his wife Jean Campbell. Urquhart served as a member of the 1707 Scottish parliament, which united Scotland and England.
