About MeAs tall and elegant as Aberdeen's most famous opera singer, this glass is handpainted in a typical French manner with garlands of flowers and rococo swirls over a fluted bowl. One side of the bowl features a male and female figure in 18th century costume, the other the initials of Mary Garden. It is thought that Mary Garden brought the glass with her from France c. 1939 -1940 on one of the last ships to leave before the occupation. It is one of only a few precious items she was able to pack.
