About MeThis unglazed earthenware bottle with loop handle, which probably dates to the 1930s, has a clear glaze on the inside to make it watertight and suitable for holding liquids.
Sidney Tustin was recruited aged 13 years in the summer of 1927 by Michael Cardew to work at Winchcombe Pottery. As apprentice, he turned the wheel for Elijah Comfort, learning the skills of potting from Comfort and Michael Cardew. He worked there for fifty-one years and made over a million pots before he retired in 1978.
