About MeThis wood-fired stoneware jug has a bulbous body tapering to a narrower base and neck. Flared rim and pulled handle. There are two small shell imprints underneath the spout.
The interior is glazed in an olive green celadon glaze, whilst the exterior is partially glazed in pale green celadon and a wood ash glaze, which gives an orange and mottled brown appearance.

Svend Bayer was an apprentice at Michael Cardew's Wenford Bridge Pottery before travelling widely throughout Japan, Korea and South East Asia, studying wood-fired kilns. In 1975 he established his own pottery at Sheepwash in Devon, making wood-fired stoneware, incorporating local clays.
