About MeThis cross stitch and tent stitch sampler was sewn by Ella F Ross aged 10 in 1895.
The upper section comprises upper case and lower case alphabets and numerals followed by family initials.
The phrase 'God is love' is stitched in the centre.
The lower section features various motifs including a house and garden, trees, flowers birds and crowns
The sampler has a strawberry border.

Samplers were popular in the 19th century as a way to demonstrate knowledge and skill. With needlework enjoying renewed popularity, we can appreciate 10 year old Ella's fine work to this day.
