About MeConsiderable care has been taken by the forger to reproduce accurately the handwritten details of the serial number, date of issue and signatures.

An indication of the success achieved by this small banking company is the fact that its shares of £1500 each were worth nearly £7000 each by 1810 and £12000 by 1826. In 1833 it was taken over by the National Bank of Scotland.

Although the Aberdeen Commercial Banking Company survived as an independent concern for about 50 years from its foundation in 1778, its notes are excessively rare nowadays. This example is believed to be a counterfeit copy.
