About MeThis lidded jam or honey pot is of a squat, bulbous form with short neck. The circular cover sits within the pot's recessed rim.The pot is decorated in a shiny black glaze with cream slip (liquid clay) applied around the body in a wavy line.
Born 1913, Sidney Tustin joined Michael Cardew at Winchcombe Pottery in 1927, aged 13. As apprentice, he turned the wheel for Elijah Comfort, learning the skills of potting from Comfort and Michael Cardew. He never left the pottery apart from a period of war service and threw over a million pots at Winchcombe, retiring in 1978. His pots were slipwares with a light decorative touch. He died in 2000.
