About MeSlim earthenware jug with bulbous and long neck rising to a rolled rim with integral lip. The jug is glazed in a dark brown slip (liquid clay) over a white slip on the upper section. It is hand-decorated around the body with a slip-trailed pattern of dark brown dots and wavy band between two finger wiped bands. The dots are repeated down the handle.Sidney Tustin was recruited aged 13 years in the summer of 1927 by Michael Cardew to work at Winchcombe Pottery. As apprentice, he turned the wheel for Elijah Comfort, learning the skills of potting from Comfort and Michael Cardew. He worked there for fifty-one years and made over a million pots before he retired in 1978.
