About MeThis stoneware round plate with flattened rim is glazed all over in a greeny-brown speckled wood ash glaze with splashes of reddish-brown tenmoku glaze. A dark brown glaze covers the central well of the plate through which are strailed and feather combed 6 bands of greenish slip.
Although Edward Hughes was inspired by Japanese philosophy and ceramics, he was also influenced by traditional English slipware.
