About MeThis sherd of pottery was found during an excavation at the site of the Carmelite friary in Aberdeen. It is the rim of a bowl which was made during the medieval period. Pinched and combed decoration has been applied to the rim of the bowl.
In Aberdeen, bowls start to become more prevalent in the archaeological record during the 14th or 15th century. Before that, many were probably made in wood. Some wooden bowls have been recovered from archaeological sites.
