About MeThese two joining sherds of pottery were found during an excavation at the site of the Aberdeen Carmelite friary in 1994. They are part of a dish or bowl which was made in the Low Countries (what is now Holland, Luxembourg and Belgium).
This type of pottery is known as slipware. The inside of the bowl was glazed in one colour (in this case, brown) and then trails of glaze in other colours (in this case, green and yellow) were used to form a decoration.
