About MeStoneware medium vase with rounded shoulders, short concave neck and everted rolled rim. Two faces of the vase have been flattened.
The vase is fully glazed in Winchcombe Pottery's AK glaze - a black gloss glaze with iron (rust) brown and yellow green speckles where fly-ash has fallen. Each of the flattened surfaces is decorated with an abstract design in iron slip.
Eddie Hopkins joined Winchcombe Pottery in 1971 and by the 1990s was the pottery's chief thrower. He was able to throw both fast and accurately, becoming the mainstay of Winchcombe's production ware, which rarely carries the individual maker's mark. This vase, marked with his monogram, is a good example of Hopkins' individual style.
