About MeStoneware large lidded jar store jar with flush-fitting stepped cover with knop. Baluster shape body, tapering towards the foot; with short neck and rolled rim.
Both the jar and cover are glazed in a pale green ash glaze with brown speckles and green celadon. The glazing finishes before the foot of the jar and the base is unglazed.
The upper section of the jar has six panels formed by the potter making deep cuts into the body whilst the clay was still malleable; each panel holds an incised foliate and leaf design.
