About MeThis round, squat store jar and cover are made from clay local to Clive Bowen's Devon pottery.
Both the jar and cover are glazed in a bright yellow glaze over a reddish-brown slip. The jar is decorated in a spontaneous way with a double band of green trailed slip around the neck and 3 dark reddish-brown waved bands towards the foot. Free-flowing splashed ribbons in green and brown decorate the belly of the jar. The cover is decorated in similar pattern of brown and green bands of slip.
Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for production of domestic pottery in a vast range of forms including store jars, serving dishes and jugs.
