About MeThis charger or large dish with flaring sides was hand-thrown on the potter's wheel by Edward Hughes. It was then glazed in a pinkish-red iron glaze with slip-trailed stripes of a pale green wood ash glaze which are combed through to create a feathered effect.
Hughes fired his pots to a high temperature in a reduction kiln, achieving the rich brown, almost black, glaze known as tenmoku which is visible on this charger.
