About Me
This tall slim store jar and cover are made from Fremington clay, a clay local to Clive Bowen's North Devon Pottery, from which he makes most of his work.
Both pieces are thrown on a wheel, wood-fired and then decorated in the tradition of English slipware using a palette of yellow ochre and rust brown glazes. Combining the techniques of finger combing and sgraffito (scratching) Bowen has decorated the jar with three motifs - a leaping fish, a leafy plant and a prawn - each set within individual panels.
