About MeThis large two handled vessel is made from Fremington clay, a local material from which Clive Bowen makes most of his work at his North Devon Pottery.
It is glazed in a mustard yellow slip (liquid clay) with a brown slip interior and is decorated with brown sgraffito (scratched) banding around the neck and foot. Both sides of the vessel have dark brown glaze with ANNO 2000 slip trailed in yellow glaze.
Clive Bowen made a number of mugs and jugs to celebrate the millennium in 2000, however this is the only known example of a larger commemorative vessel.
