About MeThis stoneware lidded pot is glazed in a oatmeal coloured ash glaze with a bands of reddish brown slip-trailed decoration. They enclose vertical bands and swirls of brown slip applied by a brush and overlaid with iron glaze.
Slip-trailing is a decorative technique used to create linear patterns. Different coloured slips (liquid clay) are applied by the potter through a 'trailer' which has a nozzle or fine point to ensure an even flow of slip.
