About MeThis sherd of pottery was found during the excavations at Aberdeen Carmelite friary in 1994. It is the base of a jug which was made in Westerwald around the 17th century. It is decorated with distinctive bands of blue glaze.
Westerwald is an area situated on the east bank of the Rhine opposite Koblenz. A major stoneware production centre started there in the late 16th century.
