About MeThis is part of a strap handle from a jug which was found during an excavation at the site of the Carmelite friary in Aberdeen. It is the underside of the handle showing stabbed decoration.

A jug handle is one of the thickest parts of the vessel. When the pot is made, the handle, is often cut or stabbed with a potter's tool to ensure that the handle dries out as fully as the rest of the pot before it is fired.
