About MeThis small jug is made from Fremington clay, a local clay from which Clive Bowen makes most of his work.

It is glazed in a reddish-brown slip (liquid clay) with yellow slip glaze over the body, rim and handle. The body is patterned in sgraffito (scratched) brown vertical bands and dots created by the potter's finger.

Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for the production of domestic earthenwares at his North Devon pottery. He makes a wide selection of useful pieces for the preparation, cooking and serving of food ranging from giant store jars to everyday pots and dishes.
