About MeThis small jug is made from Fremington clay, a local clay from which Clive Bowen makes most of his work.
It is glazed all over in a reddish-brown slip (liquid clay) with mustard yellow and light brown slips over the handle, rim and outer body. The potter has also added free-flowing green slip abstract patterns around the body and dark brown bands around the foot.
Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for the production of domestic earthenwares at his North Devon pottery. He makes a wide selection of useful pieces for the preparation, cooking and serving of food ranging from giant store jars to everyday pots and dishes.
